The Wonder of Eve is a fresh and engaging presentation, helping young women understand how naturally amazing their bodies are and the impact their choices can have on their future health and fertility.

This presentation includes: 

• The marvelous design and function of the female body and reproductive system/menstrual cycles
• a brief introduction to tracking cycles—a unique approach to women’s healthcare, no matter the stage in life
• ways to take good care of yourself now, to benefit you in the future.

Presentation specifics:

• geared towards high school girls
• aligned with Catholic teaching and values
• presented by a physician, registered nurse, or FertilityCare professional
• 60-minute presentation including Q&A
• offered by the Archdiocese of St. Louis Office of NFP

A Zoom link will be emailed to registrants prior to the event. The Wonder of Eve is hosted by the Gianna Center of Philadelphia and presented by the Archdiocese of St. Louis, Office of Natural Family Planning.

Celebrating Two Years at Suburban Community Hospital

The Gianna Center of Philadelphia will be celebrating their second anniversary at Suburban Community Hospital this month.  Below is information from their newsletter detailing how they began. Congratulations to the Gianna Center and to all those involved in the founding of this center. 

Few people know that the Gianna Center’s humble beginnings were at the internal medicine practice of Dr. Max Mercado in Northeast Philadelphia. Dr. Mercado, graciously invited Dr. Delia Larrauri and nurse practitioner Barbara Rose to begin their practice in his office located in the Medical Office Building of Jeanes Hospital.

In April of 2019, the Gianna Center moved to its present location: the Suburban Community Hospital in East Norriton. There was an open house celebration and blessing by Bishop McIntyre on its first day.  Fr. Joseph Lo Jacono, IVE, the Gianna Center chaplain, placed markings in chalk above our door which says in Latin, Saint Gianna pray for us!

Suburban Hospital is ideal for a number of reasons. First, Dr. Larrauri is able to do minor surgery and procedures there and interact with the medical staff and students in the residency program. This helps to bring more visibility to NaProTechnology and the Creighton Model.  Second, the hospital is close to the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Route 476 – major routes traversing the suburban area. A third reason that the Suburban Hospital is ideal is the fact that it is in close proximity to a large Hispanic community. Since Dr. Larrauri speaks Spanish fluently, the women from this community benefit greatly. Last, and certainly not least, the Gianna Center is not far from Planned Parenthood in Norristown, and is able to offer a life-affirming approach to women’s health and fertility thus becoming a medical resource for many of the Philadelphia area pregnancy centers.

The Gianna Center staff and volunteers pray daily for your safety and for an end to this pandemic. Remember, St. Gianna’s feast day is April 28. St. Gianna Beretta Molla, ora pro nobis!

The Gianna Center of Philadelphia celebrates two years at Suburban Community Hospital in East Norriton this April, all because of the generous support of faithful Catholics.

 

Named after St. Gianna Beretta Molla, the Gianna Center of Philadelphia features two unique women’s health services: the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System and NaProTECHNOLOGY™. This authentic pro-life women’s healthcare allows us to provide women with a more natural, restorative, scientifically-based approach to improving health and respecting fertility.

 

Our highly skilled team is delighted to offer women’s health care which includes preventive and specialized gynecology and early pregnancy support. This is health care at its finest as it respects the sanctity of life, the dignity of women, and the sacramental integrity of marriage.

 

The program’s medical director, Dr. Delia Larrauri, speaks Spanish fluently and has been a tremendous gift to the under-served Hispanic community of Norristown.

Gianna Center of Philadelphia to Host New Virtual Mother-Daughter Program

The information below comes from the Gianna Center of Philadelphia. Due to COVID, this year’s program will be virtual.  More information on this event will be posted in the coming weeks. 

Readers who fondly remember the mother-daughter programs hosted by the Friends of FertilityCare Philadelphia will be pleased to know that we will be continuing the tradition albeit virtually this year. 

In spring of  2021, the Gianna Center will be partnering with the Archdiocese of St. Louis Office of NFP to bring the Wonder of Eve to the Philadelphia area for the very first time.

The Wonder of Eve is a fresh and engaging presentation, helping young women understand how naturally amazing their bodies are and the impact their choices can have on their future health and fertility. Designed for high school girls and their mothers, this program is ideal as an online program as we await the safe return of in-person events. 

The program’s topics include the marvelous design and function of the female body and reproductive system, a brief introduction to tracking cycles and ways for young women to take care of themselves now that will benefit them in the future.

The 60-minute presentation is aligned with both Christian and Catholic teaching and values. The speakers are health care professionals and there is an opportunity for Q&A. For an article in the St Louis Review  click here.  Look for more details in our next newsletter!

NaPro Helped Both my Son and my Grandson

Below is a testimony by Theresa Strenge, a  Creighton Model FertilityCare instructor in Bucks County, from the newsletter of Gianna Center of Philadelphia. In this current atmosphere of gloom and doom, it’s nice to hear a beautiful, uplifting story.  

Miracles occur with God’s gift of NaProTechnology! Women, many for the first time, are able to have their medical problems thoroughly investigated, evaluated and properly treated. Couples carrying the cross of infertility are offered hope without having to turn to the infertility industry which is costly in body, mind and soul, besides financially. Women who have suffered the pain of miscarriage are grateful to carry a pregnancy to term even after 4 and 5 miscarriages in a row. In working with engaged couples, NaPro is able to identify if biomarkers (signs or symptoms appearing on the woman’s chart) exist and frequently avoid miscarriage when they are trying to achieve a pregnancy after marriage.

I’m one of the many mothers who after an appointment at the Gianna Center of Philadelphia with her teenage daughter with cycle difficulties thought, “what would we do if Gianna wasn’t here?” My dear daughter readily agreed. Gianna also serves women who are tempted to abort their children and are greatly relieved to find a physician who delivers medically sound and compassionate care. NaProTechnology is an integral part of overturning the culture of death. Every woman in the Philadelphia area deserves this knowledge about her amazing body and that help is available when she needs it with this exciting new women’s health science!.

While every child is a unique and unrepeatable gift from our good and gracious God, we affectionately call the children conceived with the help of our NaProTechnology Consultants “NaPro babies.”

The Gianna Center During the Pandemic – Clinical Services Continue

The Gianna Center  of Philadelphia remains open during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Please see information below on services they are offering. 

Because of you, the Gianna Center of Philadelphia continues to operate during this difficult time. While “walk-in” service has been suspended, patients have been served by a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. In some cases, women have been seen in the office for urgent matters, following all regulatory guidelines. Rest assured, there has been no lapse in providing life-affirming care to the women of our community.

Some may wonder, what exactly does the Gianna Center of Philadelphia do during a pandemic? Here are just a few of the services that keep our staff busy!

• Live video visits for patients addressing new issues and conducting follow-up care
• Orders for laboratory and other diagnositic testing
• Prescription renewals
• Confirmation of pregnancy
• Progesterone monitoring during pregnancy when indicated
• Referrals to medical specialists or surgeons
• Collaborating with pro-life health care providers and pregnancy centers
• Instruction in the Creighton Model FertilityCare System
• Assisting patients in obtaining the official Creighton App

As always, our staff has been assisting women and couples struggling with the frustrating diagnosis of “unexplained” infertility. An estimated 30% of women who have difficulty conceiving are given this diagnosis and are sent off to centers that perform intrauterine insemination or in-vitro fertilization (IVF).  Since many of these centers are closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, couples now have more time to consider a restorative reproductive approach and are seeking the Creighton Model FertilityCare System and NaProTECHNOLOGY.  We are happy to report that currently, there are 10 couples pregnant with the help of NaProTECHNOLOGY who are being treated by our practice – even remotely with the telehealth platform, Hale Health.

4 Things to Do in May

Hard to believe that we are in the month of May. Everyone here at Voices for Life hope you are all doing well during these uncertain times.

Here’s a checklist on what you can do this month

1. Vigil participation
   1. The first amendment is still applicable to you should you decide to pray outside of abortion facilities. Be sure to bear in mind physical distancing guidelines
   2. Bring resources with you
   3. Ask someone to take a photo of your pro-life sign that promotes pregnancy crisis center/hotline and share it on social media.
   4. Learn about a Mother’s Day prayer vigil on May 9th
2. Donate to pro-life organizations
   1. Participate in Giving Tuesday campaigns every Tuesday this month
   2. PLU will run a special fundraiser that will launch on Friday. Stay tuned for a post.
   3. Take part in the Culture Project’s Days of Giving
   4. Support organizations devastated by the pandemic
3. Pray for moms this month
   1. Be sure to thank your mom for choosing life.
