Len Deane is a staunch supporter of the sanctity of life, especially unborn babies. He tells his personal story of his mother’s decision to chose life for him against the advice of her doctor to abort him.
My Family and Friends, I wanted to share with you why I’m passionate and committed to speak and work on behalf of the unborn. As a young boy, age 11, I asked my mom “what is abortion?” I guess she explained it to me that some mommies don’t want their babies and they are aborted. And then she told me a story about my birth.
My sister was born 10 months before my birth and the doctor told my mom that she should have an abortion, because the baby (Len) may not live or would not be very healthy. My mom rejected the doctors advise and I was born on July 29 1941. I wasn’t a real healthy baby and the doctor told my mom, I would have a very short life.
Well 78 1/2 years later, I’m a healthy “old man” with two wonderful adult children (Holly Lynn and Brian Allan) and three incredible healthy, beautiful and intelligent grandchildren (Arbour Leigh, Quinn Caroline and Ethan John). Abortion affects generations to come; in my case two children and three grandchildren.
The word of God is clear: Proverbs 24:11-12 “Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter…” Psalm 139:13-16 “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…” Isaiah 49:1 “…Before I was born the Lord called me; from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name.”
